kolkata, April 22 In an attempt to bring academics and industry on the same platform, the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) along with International School of Business (ISB) Kolkata will be organising the Kolkata Education Fair from April 25 to April 27.

The BCCI has taken the initiative to show that the industry is now reaching out to the students.

The main idea behind this endeavour is to bring students, educational institutions, academicians and industrialists on the same platform.

Differentiating this education fair from others, Suborno Bose, Chairman of ISB said, “This fair is not just about stalls. We are paying a great deal of importance to counseling and seminars on various career options.”

“We will have eminent people from various fields of expertise who will talk to students,” said BCCI Secretary General Khokon Mukherjee.

Rita Bhimani, PR person, will talk on Media and Public Relations, Shorbari Dutta, fashion designer, will talk on fashion, and Chef Shaun Kenworthy will be talking on career options in food and beverage.

There would be about 10 interactive sessions in three-day fair.

The organisers are expecting a footfall of 10,000 students and parents. They are planning to make the fair an annual event.

The fair will also see various commercial banks like Axis Bank, State Bank of India and Allahabad Bank talking about the available educational loans.

“Education is a costly affair these days and although various loan options are available, many students are not aware of them,” said Bose.

The entry would be free for all the students while others have to pay a nominal entry fee of Rs 5.
