Speaking on the occasion, Gen Sapru said that there is a need for effective communication in all aspects of life, especially in medicine.
This, he stressed, would dispel myths and unreasonable expectations of the people and encourage a healthy relationship between doctors and patients.
He added that such workshops would help and reinforce positive attitudes among participants and go a long way in improving medical care.
Commandant of the hospital Major General Charanjit Singh welcomed the faculty and guests to the conference and praised their interest and commitment to medical care. The guest faculty included Brigadier A C Anand from New Delhi, Dr Nagesh Simha and GS Randhawa from Bangalore.
The Western Command Hospital is a multi-specialty hospital for Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh and serves over 7.5 lakh serving and retired defence personnel of the country.
