Delhi Metro currently has 42 inch LCD screens installed only at Rajiv Chowk and Kashmiri Gate that serve the purpose of giving out information related passenger travel and even advertisement messages.
According to Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal, 25 LED screens, each of 150 inches, will be installed at eight stations on Line-3 (Indraprastha – Dwarka Sector 9). These stations are Pragati Maidan, R K Ashram, Karol Bagh, Rajendra Place, Rajouri Garden, Janakpuri (West), Uttam Nagar (East) and Dwarka Sector-9.
“The screens will be three times bigger than those at Rajiv Chowk and Kashmere Gate Metro stations. They will use Japanese and German technology for longer life and sharper picture,” Dayal said.
DMRC will be roping in private players who would not only operate the screens but will also be allowed to display advertisments to generate revenue.
According to Dayal, the new screens will be visible near the platforms and the unpaid areas of the metro stations. “The structures shall be made of mild steel and will be aesthetically pleasing. All the 25 screens will be installed within the next six months,” Dayal said.
