Kolkata, February 9 Over 55 lakh unemployed youths registered with around 70 employment exchanges in the state will soon have their profiles uploaded on the Internet, said the state labour department. The state Directorate of Employment has said the computerisation of live register will be completed later this year.

“We are working in a direction where employers can be offered information about candidates on the same day,” said Subesh Das, Secretary Incharge of the state labour department. He was speaking at a conference titled “New challenges in the area of employment-stakeholders meeting”, organised by the employment directorate at the Bangla Academy on Saturday.

According to department officials, the database of the applicants will be linked to a website. “Applicants will have the option of updating their profiles online, once they have their profile verified and registered with us. They will have a login name and password. Similarly, employers will be in a position to look for required candidates,” said A K Ray Chaudhuri, Director of Employment.
