Chandigarh, February 10 Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said seats in technical and engineering institutes in the state would be increased to one lakh in the next two years to provide ample opportunities to the youth to get technical education.

The Chief Minister, who was addressing the Chhotu Ram Jayanti Samaroh organised by the Jat Shiksha Samiti at Rohtak yesterday, said the number of seats in technical and engineering institutes had already been increased from 23,000 to 53,000 in the past three years.

Hooda also launched a scathing attack on those who had earlier tried to keep Deenbandhu Sir Chhotu Ram in the background “so as to highlight the name of their own father”. He said such politicians could never be well-wishers of Haryana.

He said Chhotu Ram had always struggled to ensure justice to the weak, the down-trodden, farmers and labourers.

The CM paid rich tributes to Deenbandhu Sir Chhotu Ram and said while following his high ideals, the state government had given priority to expansion of quality education facilities.

He said Deenbandhu Sir Chhotu Ram realised that lack of educational facilities was one of the main causes of backwardness and had played an important role in promotion of education, especially in rural areas.
