Chandigarh, February 11 The grandson of former CPM leader Shamsher Singh Josh was arrested today on charges of posing as a journalist. The police also recovered a fake Press Information Bureau (PIB) identity card from his possession, which had his photograph.

He was arrested on charges of impersonation and will be produced in court on Tuesday, the police said.

The incident took place this afternoon when Baltej's Maruti car, driven by him, collided with the vehicle of a news channel team at the Sector 16-17 light-point.

An argument ensued between the two sides, following which the news channel team informed the Police Control Room about the incident and called them to the spot. When the police party from Sector 17 police station reached the spot, Baltej introduced himself as a journalist and showed the identity card issued by the PIB.

The police then contacted PIB officials, who, after seeing the card, declared it as a fake one, following which he was arrested under Section 170 of the Indian Penal Code.

The police also recovered a red beacon and a fake media pass issued by the Traffic Police from his car.

Baltej later claimed to be an owner of a security agency at Mohali.
