Gurgaon, January 19 The news is out: Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway will be opened on January 23. And the result could be seen on Saturday: over 7,000 forms sold on the first day of registration for concession passes.

DS Constructions, the expressway builders, expects to sell 30,000 forms in the next seven days. Monthly concessional passes by individual commuters were the most in demand on Day One, officials said. The company, though, is not willing to say whether tolling will begin on January 23 itself.

A senior official said, “It is likely to begin by January 23, following the Transport ministry’s announcement on Friday.”

Commuters seemed happy with concession rates, though some had doubts about certain schemes. For example, Sangeeta Jain, a resident of DLF phase II, wanted to know why students were not being given further rebates. “My daughter studies in South Campus and has to travel every day,” she said.
