FBI

Mumbai The seven-member team of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has started its assessment of the Mumbai terror attacks.

The team arrived in the city on Sunday and was in a day-long meeting with the Director General of Police (DGP), Mumbai Commissioner of Police and senior officials from the Crime Branch.

The team is in the process of examining evidence and remnants of explosives gathered from the targeted places and the methodology used by the militants, official sources said.

FBI would be investigating the case from their side as six American nationals were killed in the attacks.

It was not immediately clear whether the FBI has also registered a case in the matter as they had done in the hijacking of Indian airlines' IC-814 plane in 1999 which carried a US national - Jennir Moorie.

ONLY ONE SOLUTION by Ajay on 02 Dec 2008

Lets not discuss much on this. Do we have suficient technology to identify training camps in POK or Pakistan or afghanistan? Answer : Yes.. Then what are we waiting for? more condolences from international community? more sympathies? or Do some elements in our own system want to give suficient time to these terror conductors to escape? And If we are not getting agressive then there has to be enough reason which should be shared with the indian people. So in Simple words Make no delay.............ATTACK.COME WHAT MAY...

No actionable input to prevent Mumbai terror: by Syed on 02 Dec 2008

You are one of the MOST favorite newspaper of Indians. PLEASE PLEASE investigate to find our whether Hindutva parties have hired them to change the election scenario in our country. We (Indians) are very sure that those militants were hired by Hindutva parties to kill the HONEST OFFICERS like Karkare, Kamta and Salaskar.

Attacks in India by Gabriel Pena on 02 Dec 2008

I just saw on ABC News (US) the latest about the attacks. Apparently the FBI had warned their Indian counterparts about the pending attacks in October and November.Simply incredible

condemnation by basit hussain on 02 Dec 2008

The nature of threat in todays world has changed. Countries like India need to spend a part of their defence budget in addrssing terrorism, THis would include a robust but sensitive security, honest diplomacy , addressing the concerns of minorities and above all avoiding politicising this issue of terrorism. This may mean a loss of contracts for some western arms exporters but we need to spend at least 30% of our defence budget in modernising and improving security and another 20% of defence budget in social upliftment. Only then can we defeat designs of the likes of lashkar and jaish. It is foolish to expect that others will do our dirty work. It is upto Indian government to do this. And it is upto people of india to reject devisive politics and jingoism of advanis, modis and geelanis. Advani speaking in support of a terrorist was appaling and needs as much condemnation as geelani praising lashkar. NO TO DIVISION YES TO SMART SOLUTIONS

More patrol on sea and land border by Sivaraman Narayanan on 02 Dec 2008

securing our border is a better solution than asking pakistani govt to fix terror camps in pakistanies. We all know that they are out of their control.

FBI's Assessment by Hughes on 02 Dec 2008

True, Zardari is possibly not so heinous as your ISI is. But in order for India to stop terrorism, India should blast all ISI sponsored, terror camps, LET camps and internally Pakistan should become a economic state. It is more of a milirary and terror ridden and terror exporting state than anything worthwhile.

Kill the terrorists by Praveen on 01 Dec 2008

Agreed LeT is as much a problem for Pakistan as for India. History has proven Pakistan has absolutely no control over the terrorist elements. There are serious questions about Pakistan's capability and intention to act against these forces. India MUST take steps to handle this crisis on its own. And let us prove that the nuclear blackmail is just that. Its a "I-die-you-die situation" and we can not let that come in the way of killing the terrorists and destroying their infrastructure. What use is our forces and nuclear capability if we are not willing to use it to protect ourselves?Punch the softies. Kill the terrorists in their homes.

Dont believe pak's civilian gov. words, they're clearly behind it by Sarath on 01 Dec 2008

This is work of all groups in Pak, civilian government, ISI and pak army and Lashkar all together jointly doing, and at the same time isolating themselves and they don't want to take responsibility, so indian gov. shouldn't believe Jardari or some tom dick and harry's words. If any proofs of Pak citizen or terrorist, its indian gov. responsibility to protect their citizens. India shouldn't think that terrorist groups in pak but no involvement of civilian gov. Their ploy is india should succumb to Laskhar and isi pressuure, and india has to beg pak's civiliar gov. to offer whole kashmir and paks gov is the mediator? what a such foolish plan. If Congress is ruling party their ploy may work. unfortuanately every 5 years party will change in india. so they cant fool entire india and world. I thiink for this type of micky mouse games, one day Pak is going to become burial ground only because of their religious fantacism and their puppet to China and saudi arabia.

Pak - A victim and a perpetrator by Giri on 01 Dec 2008

I'm an Indian national living in the US. No country is terror proof, including US. The next attack is just waiting to happen. Osama bin Laden has clearly mentioned that he would like to have one another go at the US before he dies. They are just planning for a maximum impact. It is easier for the Pak based terrorists to inflitrate into India because of the common language and the identical South Asian appearance. In the US the security agencies will do profiling of the suspects, discreetly. No doubt Pakistan is a victim of terror. But the army and ISI are still playing the game of running with the hare and hunting with the hounds. The Pak army and ISI are not under total control of the Pak Prez, PM and parliament and that is the main problem. Basically this terror menace has been grown in Pak for a very long time and it will take a long time before the genie is back in the bottle. Till then there will be such attacks. Pak gov should cease funding and political support to begin with.

Sowing and Reaping by ManofGod on 01 Dec 2008

What I have to tell the pakistani government, and the people of pakistan, is that, you will fail in your test with any country, let alone India, with your violence agenda. Your words and tone speaks for violence. Sometimes we feel that you are loving and sometime we feel you are hatred. But most of the time you have failed in your test for peace and approach for good norms. Your government change after every few years with violence speak for itself. What you sow you will reap. Please remember you are also living in glass house. Glasses break and it will hurt you. So please dont throw any stones at any person. Lies and deception can't help the governments of any nation. Truth will survive. And one final word, "We all will be judged by our Maker"He is coming soon. So expect judgment.

Go For It by R on 01 Dec 2008

This is the golden chance to involve real anti terrorist forces in this fight even as the need for an internal Radovan Karadzic should take shape in our minds as a two pronged attack on mutant Islamists.

Investigation by Sreebalakumar on 01 Dec 2008

How long the drama of investigation will be in the terror stikes. Please find a solution in other out, which every one knows. Break the laws and rules. Go with root cause. It might take 100 years. But at least our grand grand sons daughters can live together with Osamas grand grand grand duaghters and son in one world.

home soil by george on 02 Dec 2008

You are saying all this because this is not your country. When there has been proof that the terrorists have hailed from Pakistan, then why are you defending pakistan?

Blame game. by anand on 02 Dec 2008

Blame game ha ha. Its very clear that pakistan is the place where terrorist are nurtured.

Really? by Sanchit on 01 Dec 2008

Blame game? Without evidence (if this is what you meant by "awidence")? If not Pakistan, India's enemy is ISI and innumerable terrorist camps operating inside PoK, which are again acting in connivance with the Pakistani Govt. Get your facts right dude before you start showing India the way ahead!
