An elated Gurrag Singh Mallik, 24, who bagged the highest package in the institute so far, said that the idea of being a senior brand manager of a leading retail giant based in Kuwait is yet to sink in. “Every time someone congratulates me, it feels unreal. My family is also very happy though we are already in the business of exports,” he added.
The highest domestic package of Rs 26 lakh was bagged by Nikhilesh Goel. He was one among the 141 students of FMS (99 students of the MBA course and 42 students of the MBA-MS course) who had applied for placements. For the MBA programme, the average salary went up to Rs 15.31 lakh per annum, up from the Rs 12.04 lakh per annum last year. The average salary for the MBA-MS programme shot up to Rs 13.1 lakh per annum, up from the Rs 10.55 lakh per annum last year, an increase of 24 per cent.
Witnessing the huge surge, Prof JK Mitra, Dean, FMS, Delhi said, “Swami Vivekananda had once said: education is the manifestation of perfection already in a man. Recent placement record only reflects the degree of perfection in our products.”
This placement season saw a lot of students opting for dream jobs and even at times rejecting some lucrative offers. Neha Juneja and Ravi Pokharna opted out of the placements to invest their talent in independent ventures.
As Prof Madhu Vij, Convenor, Placement Committee, said, “The Final Placements 2008 at FMS Delhi bear testimony to the robust and growing Indian corporate sector. The placements displayed in full light the sound academic foundation, strong sense of purpose and an attitude towards excellence of every FMSite.”
