It was not just the loss of two lives, but also a case of shaken faith in spiritual guru Asaram Bapu for Praful Vaghela and his brother Shantilal Vaghela. The two lost their children, who were enrolled in the Bapu's ashram in Motera village, under mysterious circumstances.
To add to the mystery are the missing organs of the children, with many believing they could have been targets of exorcism.
Joint Commissioner of Police Mohan Jha said, "Prima facie, it seems that the boys died due to drowning. However, it is not the final judgment and things will be clear after the reports of the postmortem and viscera samples are known."
While Praful Vaghela, father of Dipesh, is repenting not having checked the security arrangements at the Gurukul run by the ashram authorities before sending their sons, Abhishek's father Shantilal is in a state of shock.
"My brother, Shantilal, is an ardent follower of Asaram Bapu and on his insistence I had agreed to enroll the boys at the gurukul. But I did not know that the ashram authorities would be so irresponsible. I have faith in Asaram Bapu, but I would ask people to think twice before enrolling their children in the ashram," said Praful.
The Vaghelas have accused the ashram authorities of showing negligence in handling the boys. Suspecting involvement of someone from the ashram, the parents alleged that their wards must have been killed for black magic.
Praful's elder brother Suresh had on Sunday said that he has lost faith even in Asaram Bapu. "Two innocent children from his ashram have lost lives and yet there is no message from him. I have completely lost faith in him," he said.
Reacting to this, Uday Sangani, administrator of the ashram, said that to lose faith in the ashram is the personal matter of the Vaghelas. "I agree that there was security lapse, but after that we had taken enough efforts to find out the boys," he added.
Meanwhile, the residents of Ranip took out a protest rally against the ashram and the shopkeepers of the area observed a bandh to express solidarity with the victims' families. The rally marched through Ranip, Nirnay Nagar and Chandlodia areas, with the participants shouting slogans against the ashram authorities.

it is very sad news ,every day innocent children are dying.who is resposible ?Asa ram bapu.why he is doing drama and crying in front of his chamcha's specialy females.why this ashram is selling organs of these children.he could have asked for a immedaite independed enquiry and could have consoled the parents earlier,he went to show off.I REQUEST GOVT OF INDIA TO CLOSE ALL THE ASHRAMS

The way this article is mentioning the incident its pathetic. The gurukul has been running for so long now, but the media never made an effort to highlight the good things done by the ashrams, gurukul etc. Also the media should learn to present facts for facts, instead of pouring ghee on fire by asking such stupid questions as "what do u think abt gurukul?" to ppl who have just lost their kids. I think media has no better thing to do. Channels and newspapers who r doing it have only the baddua of all sadhaks n bhaktajans.
There are cults all over the world; however, when wrong doing is reported, the respective authority would investigate the matter. If need be even close it down. I simple do not understand, why these so called saints, who do not follow his own preaching, (you do what the Doctors tell you, but do not do what the doctors does) has got away with so man illegal activities, and there are so man cases pending?? All is because of o much palatal clout and wealth.
Asaram bapu could have saved the reputauion of his organisation if he had sided with the public. he could have asked for a immedaite independed enquiry and could have consoled the parents earlier. There was no need from his part to thank the govt and police. Even when vagaela asked for peace and noinviolence nothing of the sort has come out from him. The quetion of how samll kids went out in that dark night to such a desolute area has to be answered for common good. Its must and Asaram bapu could have shown the leadership here and could have elevated himserlf to a lofty pedestal. It was a missed chance for him and the reason has to be found why it didn't happen from such aperson like him who is supposed to know the mind of common man. There is wonder f the faith is broken. Its happy thing to see the people are showing better sensitivity and fight for justice now. Its a pity to see how themedia behave at times highly irresponsibly ceating certain seens tailored for theire needs !

one has sympathy for the parents of deceased children but to blame it on the ashram is not correct. the post mortem report and FSL report say that the death was due to drowning and there was no evidence of strangulation, poisoning etc. and that the missing limbs seem to have been eaten away by animals. still the media goes on reporting rumours only. not expected of express at least.
Mr Prasad. The parents' family doesn't want your sympathy. It's shame on the part of the Ashram which didn't even bothered to tell the family that the children were missing from the Ashram. It was only after the dead bodies were found near the Ashram, the so called spiritual leader told the family about it. Don't try to mislead the people by saying that FSL report has found that the boys died due to drowning. FSL is likely to submit its report today and therefore get your facts right before writing anything.

It pains me to see how media is attacking Param Pujya Sant shrii asaram Bapu. Is it that we will never recognize these saints during their life time? From times immemorial we have seen that whenever a saint comes to uplift the society also come the negative elements. May be you can say that the God only incarnates himself in the form of these saints to ward off those negative elements and works for the betterment of the downtrodden, the wretched people, people who have forgotten their own glory, who have forgotten that they are the masters and have been enslaved by Maya, people trampled under the burden of miseries. The allegations against Ashram are totally baseless and seems to have been made just to give rise to TRP. the children died of drowning. the media is just trying to defame the Ashram by totally neglecting the good deeds done in Aadivasi areas and poor people. it is duty of media to find out the truth and learn some lessons from Arushi- murder case
