Kolkata, March 8 Police officers of Nadia district believe that Prantosh Mondal, who was arrested for carrying 13 set of fake Higher Secondary question papers, is part of a larger syndicate operating in the area around Kalyani.

“Mondol’s associates are operating in the area,” said Nadia SP Hari Krishna Kusumkar. Kalyani police, which arrested Mondal on Thursday night, said an investigation into how many fake scripts were sold in the area is underway.

Without divulging details of those involved in the racket, the local police station confirmed that such a nexus exists. According to police, the nexus is trying to make some easy money by duping people with the sale of fake HS question papers at a time when the exam is drawing near.

The papers seized from Mondal had Higher Secondary Examination 2008 and English Group B, (New Syllabus) clearly printed on them, resembling the Higher Secondary question papers. But speculations of a paper leak following his arrest were finally put to rest after the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Examination Council claimed that the seized papers were not the real board papers.
