According to Special Cell officers, the accused, Sidharth Mittal (26), was to get married on Thursday and was arrested based on a tip-off that he was staying in his 13-D, Rawli Apartment house in Sector 52.
Police said a team comprising five Special Cell personnel raided his residence at 10.45 am on Wednesday. He was arrested while he was getting into his car, police said.
According to police, Mittal started Swastik Placement Agency in Hoshiyarpur, Noida, two years back. "He would show a maid to about ten applicants and tell them that the help would visit their houses. He would then take advance money ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 each. The help would visit just one house and that too for two-three days, after which she would flee," a police source said. Mittal would later flee with the money.
Mittal also ran a placement agency in New Kondli (East Delhi) under the name of Suvidha Placement Cell. According to police, Mittal frequently changed his offices and after cheating several persons, he would leave. "We received many complaints and matched the modus operandi. On a secret tip-off, we got Mittal's address and arrested him under Sections 419 (cheating by personation) and 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of IPC," a senior police officer said. Police said they are interrogating Mittal.
There is a similar racket of faking maid service and running agency.It is in Sec 82, Noida and the person's name is Subhas.He is running a placement agency and charging Rs 6000 for the service. I have been cheated as he provided me maid which worked only for few weeks and Subhas is not reachable either on his cell or office. This person should be arrested under Sec 420 and 419 for fooling and cheating others.
