Family arrested from airport for forging passport

Kolkata, April 30 A woman, her husband and their 16-year-old daughter were arrested from the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) airport early on Wednesday morning on charges of forging a passport.

Mumtaz Firoz (40), a resident of Chennai, had gone to Bangkok with her family on April 12. On her way back, on April 20, Mumtaz stole two bottles of perfume from the duty free shop at the Bangkok airport.

She was caught and handed over to the police. A case was registered against her.

Her passport was impounded but she was released on bail.

The family then went to the Indian Embassy in Bangkok and got an emergency certificate from the authorities, but Mumtaz was again stopped during the checking at the immigration counter as a case was pending against her.

The three then took help of a tout and got a forged passport in the name of Asha Agarwal. They arrived at NSCBI Airport by Thai Airways flight TG 313 on Wednesday morning.

Besides Mumtaz, her husband and daughter were taken taken into police custody, as they had helped her forged the passport.

“A case has been registered and the three will be produced in the Barackpore court on Thursday morning,” said In-charge airport Thana Anup Kumar Ghosh.

    Reddit allows users to submit news articles and other online content to the site. Users also give articles a thumbs-up or thumbs-down. Reddit then uses those votes to build a user profile and to find articles to recommend to you. Users can also submit comments on items posted to the site.
