Muzaffarnagar A leading Islamic seminary has issued a decree declaring the BSP slogan of 'Jai Bhim' as un-Islamic and violative of Shariat.

In the fatwa, the Dar-ul Uloom said that the slogan, invoking Dalit leader Bhimrao Ambedkar, was "against the Islamic law as the religion does not permit such a prayer for anyone except Allah".

The fatwa was issued by chief Mufti Habibur Rehman, Mufti Mehmood and Mufti Zeulislam on Saturday on a query raised by a medico M Mehraj Khan, seminary sources said.

While the decree has sparked concern in the BSP, especially among its Muslim leaders, a cleric from the seminary Asad Madani who recently joined the party said that the slogan was not a "compulsion" for the party workers. Backing the fatwa, Madani said it was based on Shariat law.

Jai Hind by New Zealand Boy Shubhal on 16 Feb 2009

India people will not follow this Fatwa. Everyone has rights of saying whatever they can say when they greet people. Do not believe this Sheriat at all. I do respect Muslim but I can not allow this Sheriat to follow their cheap thoughts

Fatwa by javed Khan on 09 Feb 2009

Guys, let's not make too much of this nonsensical 'fatwa'.To clarify: it's for those Muslims ONLY who follow that school of thought:all Muslims do not.Nor is it binding on any otherfaith.Being a Muslim myself,I do not see any thing 'Un-Islamic' about the slogan 'Jai Bhim'.It's just the Mullas' way of angling for cheap publicity.... and getting it.Please ignore them.We Indians have to learn to live together and not be divided by people issuing a fatwa here and promising to build a temple there.Jai Hind,Jai Hindustani

Enjoy!! by Rajdeep on 09 Feb 2009

Welcome to the wonderful world of Shariat. Congress, SP , CPI-M and BSP will try their best to ensure that Shariat is imposed on entire India. Only that will make this country truly secular...

Fatwa or its a Batwara by saccha gujurati on 08 Feb 2009

Being a muslim, I am really ashamed of people who call themselves guardian of islam in india. Islam does not have anything to do with politics, let the say what ever they want. Just don't manipulate things on behalf of any political party. I am not supporter of BSP, but muslim clerics are misusing islamic cause. Jai Hind

well those who issue fatawa against this slogan are realy not a responsible persons and there mental status is not well. they have to go for sicratist. jai bhim is respect and proud shown by dalit and all those who believed in dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar who work and fight against such peoples who not allow to give dalit there rights. and those who issue fatawa against such persons who burn there whole life for wellfare of peoples it is realy bad and those who support such peoples they dont have to stay in this country. go away from this country. we dosent issue fatawa against ur allah then u dont have right to issue any type of fatawa or any other such comment to our god. we pray him like god. if once again if such things will happen then it will dengourous to all muslim community.

Secular and BJP??? by Akz on 08 Feb 2009

The EC should pull the BJP for using/offering the ram temple to the country. No political party should be allowed to use faith. Oh it is so then BJP would be out of business. They got the party base using RAM and here they try again to come to power using RAM. Let us see if Indians can be fooled again.

Jai Bhim by Arun on 08 Feb 2009

hahaha. Good joke. Should we all the other religious people refer koran for each and everythiing? idiots. They can refer the koran if they want for their actions but its idiotic and foolish thinking that every political party or person adhore theirs. Go hell with their thinking.

Radicalism and illogical---- by romesh.sharma on 08 Feb 2009

Though I am against BSP and Mayawati in particular but I find it ridiculous and idiotic if muslims find this slogan "Jai Bhim" anti-Islam.This slogan is noway worshiping/or an act of prayer because BhimRao wasn't a Holy person or a Hindu deity. Is it something other than when muslims shout Jinnah Jindabad and so on.Muslims must change their fantic mind-set and accept the mainstream Nationalism. If not then why the hell they are here!On one hand they talk/hope of secularism on the other want to remain fanatics bound with ancient old foolish sysztem of Fatwas.Word Fatwa is something like Filling the Blanks.Whenever muslims have no solid/healthy/reasonable arguement the y drag into quran and call for Fatwa.Height of low intelect and blind radicalism. For these reasons the GOI must bring drastic changes/reforms in Constitution and bring all people under one law of equality which is above every religion. To those it will be reason of discomfort may leave India and be happy.

Execute criminals as per Shariyat law! by Uday on 09 Feb 2009

I was in Saudi and there is Shariyat law. Like this for theft law permit to cut hands, for murder law permit murder or blood money whatever victim relatives ask. For rape it is hanging, for drug hanging. etc. If any follower of shariyat commit crime he should be executed by that law not by Indian Penal code.
