‘‘I hope he (Rahul) will see for himself the needs of KBK area which we have been demanding for a long time,’’ Patnaik told reporters after returning here from a five-day tour to New Delhi.
Patnaik said he came to know from news papers that Rahul Gandhi would visit many places of Orissa for four-day tour.
To a querry, Patnaik said he was not worried due to Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the tribal dominated areas of Orissa.
‘‘People often visit Orissa. And you have seen results for one decade,’’ he said adding he was confident that BJD and ally BJP would return to power in future too.
On possibility of a mid-term poll, Patnaik said all were waiting reports in this regard from New Delhi.
The Orissa government has launched Biju-KBK Yojana for development of KBK region, known as the country’s hunger zone, accusing the Centre of discontinuing the long-term action plan for the poverty-striken area.
Since Rahul Gandhi chose KBK region for launching his countrywide tour from Sinapalli in Nuapada district, ruling BJD-BJP feels it was an attempt to hijak poverty issue.
Besides seeking special category status for Orissa, Patnaik has asked the Centre to fulfill the demand for welfare of poor people of the state and tribals of KBK region in particular.

About to think that you can fight poverty only if you knew about poverty is humbug - in that case Rattan Tata would never have made and fought the world to take out the NANO. It is only passion that drives and can drive such noble ideas. Remember, you do not have to get burnt to know that fires burns !
I get the feeling that all the commentators who seemed miffed about Rahul going around to understand poverty and where and how it hurts, are actually fighting poverty themselves. That the commentators always pay their taxes without false medical bills,etc always insist on a bill whenever they buy any product (even candles from a kirana shop) because they 'know' that they are helping reduce poverty by ensuring the shop keeper also pays taxes ! Also when they fall short they go about collecting funds from well wishers and creating jobs for people around their distict and state. Hey guys grow up and handle comments in a constructive manner - it will help the country become stronger. That is YOUR duty as an Indian !
Well, i really feel that people who think negative of Rahul Gandhi should see logic that at least a young leader from a high family really thinks
sometime back I had read a tailpiece story in one of the newspaper. It was a story with which we can relate Rahul Baba. This is how the story goes. There was a rich boy who was once asked by his teacher to write an essay on poor people. He started like this, there was a poor boy, his ayyah was poor, his butler was poor, his cahuffer was poor. What else must we expect from Rahul Baba.
How Rahul Gandhi can understand poverty and difficulties the ordinary Indians are facing. They never suffered anything like that in their life. The public money spent on the security of these people could be used to alleviate the poverty of some of the poor people at least. But in congress Gandhi family will survive because none of the congress leaders like each other or trust each other. Therefore there should be some outsider to look after them!

Poverty and Rahul Gandhi? none of Indira's children can tell anything abt poverty, as they have got everything ready made for them, by the blind followers of (Congi Gunda party) their LOW IQ dad, grand maa Indira, and great grand father Naheru The congress party sitting on billions of dollars is run for years like a family business, remember ugly Sitaram Kesri? he knew where all the money were kept may be in Switzerland to maintain lazy Rahul and his sister.
Please give a break to that Italian lady. She gave up her illustrious profession of waitressing and came here to manage billions of dollars. She would have been head waitress by now and that is sacrifice.
Patnaik is expecting too much of Rahul. The man can not be roll model for the young people,how is the world he can feel proverty. By the way they are poor as non of his family ever work for living. For generations they live of public funds!
