Several dead fishes were discovered by residents in the morning following which government officials were informed. The Deputy Forest officer V P Jadeja said, “We rushed to the scene and found different species of dead fishes lying on the beach. This is the second such incident and the fishes were found on the same spot as last time. However, this time there weren’t as many fishes as there were last time. We have counted the fish in square meter area and found 130 fishes.”
The GPCB officials also rushed to spot and took water samples as well as sand samples to trace any oil spillage. Jadeja added, “All fishes are salt water fishes and this time ten different species of fishes were found. We have collected samples of each species and have sent it to Forensic laboratory for further testing.”
Forest officer R J Asari said, “We are still waiting for the earlier report from Forensic Science Laboratory. More than two weeks have been passed and the FSL officials have not prepared the report. We want to know the cause of the death so we can take further action to prevent it.”
