Five hideouts busted in Jammu region

Jammu Army troops and Jammu and Kashmir police busted five hideouts in separate incidents in Jammu region and recovered 18 kgs of IED explosives besides huge consignments of arms and ammunition.

Meanwhile, a joint team of army troops and Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off Dudu area in Udhampur district following information about presence of some militants in the area.

SSP, Udhampur Surinder Gupta said that the area has been cordoned off for the search operation, however, no firing has taken place nor any militant been traced out.

Meanwhile, sources informed that hideouts were busted and cache recoveries were effected in Rajouri, Doda and Udhampur districts.

Sources said that acting on a tip off, troops during search operation busted two hideouts in Maniyarwala area of Rajouri district on Friday.

The recoveries made from the spot included two IED explosives weighing 18 kgs- nine kgs each, six grenades, ten UBGL grenades, eight detonators, 55 rounds of AK rifles and 90 rounds of pika rifle.

In another incident, a column of Infantry Battalion Territorial Army recovered 47 rounds of ammunition in general area Maniyarwala.

Meanwhile, another hideout was busted by army troops in Dudu- Basantgah in Udhampur, sources informed, adding that the troops recovered two AK rifles, 73 rounds, one 303 rifle, 23 rounds, a large number of grenades and huge ration stores.

Two militant hideouts were busted in Doda district, sources informed. After receiving specific information about the presence of three Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit militants, the Special Operation Group of Doda Police, launched an operation at Gundana area.

However, as the police took up search operation, they were fired upon by the hiding militant, sources informed, adding that the cops too retaliated the fire.

However, the militants escape from the hideout under the cover of darkness, sources said adding that the hideout was busted, from where some blankets and ration were recovered.

In another operation by the SOG in Doda district, the cops raided a hideout at Bhagwa-Desa, from where one 303 rifle and ten rounds were recovered besides some blankets.

SSP, Doda Prabhat Singh said that the operation at Desa had been launched following information of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Abu Hamza.

However, the commander was not found present during the search of the hideout, he stated, adding that further search is still under progress.
