Kolkata, June 14 In a horrific incident, a five-year-old girl was found with her hands and legs tied at an abandoned building of Calcutta National Medical College Hospital on Saturday morning. She had been allegedly raped.

The police said the victim, a kindergarten student of a primary school run by an NGO — Society for Community Intervention and Research — near Park Circus did not return home on Friday after she had gone to play outside her house.

A frantic search by her family members followed, but to no avail. Later at night, her parents lodged a missing complaint at the Beniapukur police station.

Around 5 am today, staff of Calcutta National Medical College Hospital found the girl in a semi-conscious state at the hospital building, which houses the office of the Hospital Attendants’ Union affiliated to the CITU.

“There are all signs that the girl was abducted and then sexually assaulted. We think that the girl was raped inside the hospital. Medical tests on her will be conducted. We are trying to arrest the culprits whom we presume are locals,” said an officer of Beniapukur police station.

“We have initiated a case. Investigation is on,” said Partho Sarathi Ghosh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Eastern Suburban Division). The police have filed a case.
