NOIDA, March 17 After ordering an inquiry into the use of helipads without permission for weddings, the Greater Noida police registered a case today against a couple who got married on Sunday.

The newlyweds, the officials say, will have to go to jail as they used a helicopter without the permission of the authorities.

District Magistrate Shravan Kumar gave orders for legal action against the couple late on Sunday evening.

Kavita Singh of Ladpura village, Greater Noida, had got married to Vinod, who used the helicopter to fly to Ladpura and back to his village — Alipur near Haryana border in Delhi — along with her. Police say the landing was made without a helipad in an unsafe manner and without any security arrangement at the landing spot.

Vinod had hired the Pawan Hans helicopter at Rs 85,000 per hour. No one from the village complained, as Kavita is the daughter of the village Pradhan, Baleshwar Singh.

The groom stayed in the village for nearly an hour after the landing and flew back with the bride after finishing all the rituals.

AK Vijeta, Superintendent of Police (Rural) said: “We were not informed and no permission was granted by the administration. So we did not arrange for security staff at the spot.”

The police got to know of the incident nearly seven hours later. A case has been registered under the Aircraft Act and the Environment (Protection) Act against the bride, her father, the groom, the manager of Pawan Hans and the helicopter pilot.

Manoj Pandey, Station House Officer of the Greater Noida police station said: “Action will be taken against Baleshwar Singh, the father of the bride soon.”

The police are also starting the process of obtaining the necessary permission from other authorities for arrest of the married couple and the rest, Pandey added.
