Tunic Treat
SHWETA Khanna, a city-based textile designer has rolled out a unique 'Tunic and Kurti' exhibition at her Daffodils design studio in Sector 17. On till July 11, the collection includes over 100 designs to choose from. The fabrics that the designer has used include silk, cotton, chiffon, crepe georgette and nets. "Tunics are versatile and I have used embellishments such as sequins, beads, embroidery for a more formal appeal," mentions Khanna, who has also put together a casual range. "One can team them up with either tights, churidaars, skinny jeans or trousers," she says adding that there's a 20 per cent discount on almost all the pieces.

Dressy line-up
LOOKING to dress up? Head to Hotel Aroma that's hosting an exhibition of designer wear and linen. Aptly called 'Dress Up', the collection packs in a range of suits in fabrics such as cotton, pure crepe, georgette. The suits have been further styled using both hand and machine embroidery and are priced between Rs 450 and Rs 10,500. The exhibition also offers a range of chic linen that brings in both printed as well as embroidered bed sheets, AC dohar sets, top covers, special wedding linen, children's linen, mink blankets, woollen socks and more. The linen collection is priced between Rs 175 and Rs 6,500.

IF you have a recipe up your sleeve that's worth more than lip-smacking applause, then here's news. LG Electronics Home Appliances has announced its 'Mallika-e-Kitchen Cooking Contest 2009'. The contest is a unique initiative to promote the spirit of healthy cooking in the country. The contest will be divided into three phases this year. The first round, starting July will be held in 65 cities procuring participation from around 3,000 participants. The winners of the first round will move to the second round which is slated to commence in August at eight regional centers of LG. At the regional level 130 winners from the city level competitions will compete with each other for entry to the Grand Finale scheduled in October 2009. The 16 finalists emerging from regional level competitions will compete for the 'Cooking Queen' title for 2009. The journey to becoming Cooking Queen doesn't end here. The national winner may get a chance to participate in the global contest to be organized outside India by LG in November 2009. "Through this event, we want to remove the general myth that a microwave can only be used for re-heating and we want to put forward the healthiest and easiest ways to make home cooking scrumptious," remarked Rajeev Jain, Business Group Marketing Head, Home Appliances, LG India. To participate, one needs to fill up and submit a registration form available at select LG Dealers, LG Branch Offices. The form is also available on the LG India website as well. Short-listed candidates will be contacted by LG representative for the confirmation of venue and date for round one.
