Gorakhpur Alleging corruption, atrocities and autocracy in his political rival BSP's regime, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today told his partymen to launch an agitation to "paralyse" the functioning of the Uttar Pradesh government for three days starting from March 1.

"Paralyse the working of the government completely on March 1, 2 and 3 on the issues of corruption, atrocities, autocracy and the agitation should be such that (Chief Minister) Mayawati is forced to step down like Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak has been forced to," he told his party workers on the last day of the SP state-level convention.

He, however, asked the party workers that the agitation should not be violent and there should be no loss to the private or public properties.

"The focus of the agitation would be 'manenge bhi nahi aur marenge hi bhi nahi (Neither will we accept not will we resort to violence)," Yadav said giving a call for a "fierce agitation" against the government. He said the agitation should not be such in which workers become content on being arrested and later released from custody.

"The agitation should be something which shakes the corrupt and autocratic government," he said while directing the district units to prepare for the programme.

Calling the youth and students to come forward and participate in the agitation, the SP supremo said that current situation was worse as compared to the period when socialist leader Jai Prakash Narain launched a movement.

"JP movement, which initially included youths and students and was later joined by more common people, forced an influential leader like Indira Gandhi to step down and she even lost the elections," he said.

Yadav said the time has come to take some decision to protect the interests of farmers, the poor, youths, women and weaker sections. "In Aligarh, a junior engineer was killed and his daughter was jailed when she attempted to lodge a complaint with the Chief Minister. In Banda, a girl was raped by a BSP MLA and she was later put behind bars," he said.

Yadav alleged that Mayawati was the wealthiest leader in the country having maximum property.

"There is such an autocracy in the state that if a person attempts to raise his voice he is jailed," he alleged adding that in case of independent MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh even the High Court made observations against the police while granting bail to MLC Akshay Pratap Singh.

"Is there any morality left in the government? If there would have been any morality, the CM should have resigned immediately," he said. The SP supremo said that the Centre and the Governor should have interfered in this case and should

have dismissed the government on this basis.

Asking partymen to settle their internal differences ahead of the assembly polls due next year, he said, "I am confident that we will form the next government in the state if there is unity." He said when party was targeting Lucknow and Delhi, workers and leaders were fighting with each other.

Egyptian way. by santosh.s on 12 Feb 2011

It is absolutely necessary that there should not be any loose talk about replicating Egypt in India. The politicians like Mulayam Sing and Ms. Mufti are looking to short term gains but they do not realise that in India there is a democracy and there is elected Government with all the institutions like Parliament, Judiciary intact. But then these politicians are interested in creating anarchy. In Egypt the people made Mubarak to go but then the Army is now in Command. If we look at the history of army rule, it has not been easy way to revert back to the democratic way. The wiser counsels will prevail and the leaders will stop rousing the mobocracy.

Mulayam's call by P.K.Garg on 12 Feb 2011

Yes it will be good to do "something" in UP. Not only wake Mayawati but also BJP. But Mayawati has no skill to turn any state into progressive state. Only thing she knows is "China Jhapti", do this do that at her very low skill and knowledge level. She behaves like a 8th grade fail spoiled school girl. At the same time Mulayam did the same when he was in power. He bestowed upon Yadav the gift of lands, played very naked card of castism, and encouraged Parivar Vad. I do not hear any thing that he has in his sleeve that he will do for U.P. if he get a chance again. Unfortunately BJP has not been able to come out with a plan for UP either. Congress is a liability on the country for a long time so God save the U.P.

Mayavati to be thrown out like Mubarak-Mulayam Statement by suresh kini on 12 Feb 2011

UP is a part of India and situation like Egypt not heard in UP so far & even so Shri Mulayam Singh has to wait for next election to throw here out. For his personal political reason, he as a more responsible poltical leader of UP and aspiring to be become Chief Minister of UP to be very cautious in his statement. He is trying to ignite the emotion of people. It is very dangerous trend. Egypt or to that extent any country in the world is not like INDIA , INDIA IS UNIQUE DEMOCRACY WITH MILLIONS OF POOR. Mulayam has to go thru the process of democracy, when election declared he can try his luck. He should not confuse people and creat a situation where no one can come out from the man made situations. Think before talk. Shri Mulay should have faith in Gandhian ideology and can have gandhi like satygrah not igniting peoples mind. Giving call to throw the UP Govt. like Egypt Mubarak regime must be condemned.

Mulayam-- Mubarak style by bharat on 12 Feb 2011

Its better that mulayam stop talking about the present UP govt. Everybody knows what he did when he was ruling. His blatant communal agenda, goonda raj et all.Yes we know the present UP govt is inept and mishandling, but it was SP which gave this oppurtunity to BSP by running a sheer in competent govt. If he is really interested in overthrowing first he must set his house in order, make right moves with help of other parties, gain strenghth and then talk of removing. We are living in a democracy, not like in Egypt. Will he hold a proper election in his party and not make his son his succesor.
