Taslim, who was hospitalised thrice in recent months, was 54 and one of the most colourful characters in Pakistan cricket whose wicketkeeping and batting abilities were never utilised properly as he played in the same era as Wasim Bari.
His Test debut in Kolkata against India was a fine one with innings of 90 and 46.
He scored a marathon 210 runs in an innings spanning seven hours after opening the batting in a Test against Australia in Faisalabad. In his short international career of six Tests and two one-day internationals, it remained the highest score by a wicketkeeper until Andy Flower improved upon it 21 years later with an innings of 232.
An affable person, Taslim had become popular on television cricket shows and as a commentator.
