Varanasi, April 1: A French couple allegedly under the influence of drugs has created scene at the banks of Ganga in Varanasi, and managed to escape from a hospital where they were being brought by police.

They stripped naked at Pandey Ghat on the banks of Ganga when the police came and brought the couple to the hospital.

The couple were identified as Michail Rulifer and Marine Nathani.

The duo had taken some intoxicant, said medical officer Dr V K Sharma, who attended the couple.

Their blood and urine samples could not be taken for clinical examination as they fled, he said.

According to the police, locals spotted the couple in a semi-conscious state at the ghat on Monday.

As the locals tried to help them, they stripped naked and subsequently police were informed which took them to the hospital, police said.

Two more foreign tourists had been found unconscious at the bus station in the first week of March.

The couple was discharged from a hospital after their condition improved.
