Superintendent of Police S Panda said violence was reported from Satengabari and Jambari area in Nandigram Block II on Monday. CPI-M and BUPC supporters exchanged fire and hurled bombs at each other, Panda said.
Two BUPC members Gopal Gayen and Utpal Mandal were injured when BUPC and CPI-M activists clashed at Gokulnagar in Nandigram on Sunday night. They have been admitted in Nandigram Hospital with splinter injuries.
Around 500 people have taken shelter in two relief camps at Nandigram Block I and Maheshpur in the wake of fresh violence after a brief lull in the run up to the panchayat polls slated for May 11.
