New Delhi, January 17: The government is likely to announce the change in fuel prices during the GoM meet on Thursday.

Petroleum Secretary M S Srinivasan said a change on fuel prices was likely after the GoM meet later during the day.

"There is a possibility of a change," he told reporters ahead of the GoM meet this afternoon.

He said the ministry has sought duty rationalisation to contain the impact of surging crude oil prices.

The Group of Ministers' recommendation will be betted by the Cabinet.

"The cabinet may meet in a day or two depending on the urgency for a decision," he said.

reduce prices by ngtek on 05 Dec 2008

reduce prices as petrol price per barrel is $44 that means in a barrel there are 152 liters that is one liter is $0.28 so why the hell are we paying Rs 57 per liter do u see the profit margin..... Government needs to be faster in everything it does including dropping prices of commodities as the common Indian is hurt with all the black money he has to pay to get even a simple thing like a home...Its a shame that we are democratic country ruled by illetrate old political figures who think of their own interests only.... vote for change in our constitution to only accept politicians who hold post graduate degree and are below 45 yrs old... that is the only way this country of ours will be better than china
