Petroleum Secretary M S Srinivasan said a change on fuel prices was likely after the GoM meet later during the day.
"There is a possibility of a change," he told reporters ahead of the GoM meet this afternoon.
He said the ministry has sought duty rationalisation to contain the impact of surging crude oil prices.
The Group of Ministers' recommendation will be betted by the Cabinet.
"The cabinet may meet in a day or two depending on the urgency for a decision," he said.

Fuel prices has risen internationally more than 6 times and India has to swim with the current. Therefore reasonable increase has to be there and this increase can be compensated from unwarranted expenses being incurred by Ministers, MPs and MLAs on various foreign and Internal tours, birthday celebrations and hosting of dinners and luncheon meetings with Left on any sneeze. A lot can be saved if there is a will, thus minimizing the burden of Oil price hike on people.
