GCG-42 to introduce add-on courses from next session

Chandigarh, January 12 The Government College for Girls, Sector 42, is all set to start three new add-on courses from the coming session. The new courses will be tourism and travel, environment auditing and bio-informatics. The Panjab University Syndicate had recently approved the courses.

With the approval, the college has become the first among the government colleges of the city which has been granted these courses by the UGC. A sum of Rs 17 lakh has also been approved for the college as seed money.

Each of the new courses will have 30 seats. Students will be awarded certificates on pursuing the course for one year, diploma on completing two years and advanced diploma on pursuing the course for three years. Students can also choose to study any one of these courses in addition to their regular degrees.

Faculty member of the college Dr Dalip said, “The courses have been introduced keeping in mind the future needs of the students. These courses are job-oriented.”

Principal of the college Shashi Malik said the courses would improve employability of the students.
