Hyderabad offers a great advantage for logistic movements of perishable cargo both within the country and to South East and West Asia, Europe and the USA, GHIAL chief commercial officer Vishwanath Attaluri said.
The centre for perishable cargo would be designed to handle 13,000 tonne per annum of perishable cargo under Phase I (till 2011). The capacity would be raised to 25,000 tonne per annum under Phase II (2013-14). The investment for Phase I would be Rs 40 crore with a subsidy component of Rs 20 crore from the Agricultural and Processed Food Product Export Development Authority. The remainder would be provided by GHAIL to cover land costs and infrastructural facilities like roads, freighter bay spread over three acres.
