The delegation, led by GJM general secretary Roshan Tamang, will meet Chief Secretary Amit Kiran Deb on Wednesday on its statehood demand and other issues like police action on the April 9 ex-servicemen rally, said GJM press and publicity secretary Benoy Tamang.
Tamang alleged that the ongoing probe into the incident by a one-member inquiry commission led by M L Meena was an ‘eyewash’, and said it would demand either a CBI or a judicial inquiry.
Claiming the hills administration was not allowing it to hold public rallies, Tamang asserted that irrespective of whether it received permission of not, it would go ahead with its proposed rally at Bagha Jatin Park on April 27.
Asked about the permission for the rally, Darjeeling District Magistrate Rajesh Pandey said he had received the application and forwarded it to the Divisional Commissioner for necessary action.
