GJU to honour steel baron LN Mittal

Hisar, January 18 Guru Jambheshwar University has in principle agreed to honour steel baron L.N. Mittal with a doctorate degree at its forthcoming convocation.

An agenda to this effect was cleared during the varsity’s executive council and academic council meeting.

It was also decided to honour Anil Kakudkar, chairman of Atomic Energy Commission.

While Mittal will be honoured with Doctorate of Literature, Kakudkar will be given Doctorate of Science. Besides, renowned academician Prof S.S. Kumar will also be honoured with a Doctorate of Science.

Talking to The Indian Express, GJU Vice-Chancellor Dr R.P. Bajpai said selection of these three personalities had been done on the basis of their contributions in the field of economy and science.

During the meeting, it was decided to introduce a new course of masters in physiotherapy with 40 seats during the new academic session starting from April this year. It was further decided to have 20 more seats for biotechnology.

The varsity officials said it was decided to start a masters in printing technology and management, besides confirming the services of 34 newly-appointed teachers.
