“The accused provided the killers with the details about Banga—her movements, valuables, the structure of the house, the entry and exit points etc,” a senior police officer said. On January 30, police had arrested Mohammad Sahabuddin (28), Alamgir (19) and Khokhan (19) in connection with the murder. Banga, who resided alone in the first floor of her house in N-Block, GK-1, was found smothered to death, her hands and legs tied with a dupatta on December 12.
Police said Halima had told the killers that “Banga was an easy target,” as she lived alone. Banga had retired from the NCERT and her husband and sons are settled in Italy.
