GMC Patiala doctors conferred fellowships

Patiala, January 16 Two eminent professors of medicine at the local Government Medical College (GMC), Patiala, Harbir Kaur Rao and Rajinder Singh Gupta, have been conferred the Fellowship of Indian College of Physicians ( ICP) at the annual convocation of the 63rd Annual Conference of the Association of Physician of India at Kochi (Kerala) from January 10 to 13, 2008. The honour has been conferred in recognition of their significant contribution in the field of research, patient care and dedicated services towards society.

Harbir Kaur Rao, who is professor of medicine and in-charge of Cardiology Department at the Government Medical College, Patiala, has been the recipient of numerous other medals and honours in academics by a number of social organisations under the Red Cross. She has over 50 research papers published in national as well as international journals on diabetes and hypertension to her credit.

Rajinder Singh Gupta, also a professor of medicine at the Government Medical College, Patiala, is a dedicated teacher having a teaching-cum-research experience of over 30 years in various capacities and has published over 50 papers in various national and international journals. He has held numerous responsible positions in the institute. He is reckoned as an authority on diseases like bird flu and dengue.
