Jalandhar, January 27 A Decision of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, has jeopardised the future of many students. Private students of MA music (vocal) first-year have been asked not to appear for the examination scheduled in April.

Students alleged they had submitted forms in October 2007, along with fee as per the university rules. Since then no correspondence took place from the university, which has now informed them that they have stopped private examination for MA music (vocal).

They asked, "Why did the university accept their forms and fee if it had to discontinue the course?

A student, Deepak Chopra, said if the university had decided to discontinue the course, it should have informed them well in advance. Another student said this decision of the university had wasted their one full year.

However, GNDU Registrar R S Bawa said it was decided in April 2007 that the university would not hold examination for private candidates in MA music (vocal) course. About informing the students late, he said after receiving the forms, letters were posted to the students, but the process takes some time.
