Gang of car thieves arrested in Ambala

Ambala, March 9 A Gang of car thieves operating in Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Ambala and Karnal districts was arrested by the police on Sunday. The arrested included Baljit Singh and his accomplice Praveen among others.

Baljit was declared proclaimed offender by the Yamunanagar police in robbery and theft cases. According to the police, Baljit and his accomplices had stolen 10 cars from Panchkula, a truck and a car from Jagadhri and Maheshnagar in Ambala Cantonment, respectively. A theft case was also registered against him at the Parao police station in Ambala Cantonment.

After stealing a vehicle, the gang would prepare its fake documents and sell the vehicle to an unsuspecting customer. During interrogation, Baljit said he used to prepare bogus registration certificates of the stolen vehicles.

Baljit is also wanted by the Karnal police in several other cases. More arrests are likely to be made after his interrogation is completed.
