Kanpur, February 26: Taking tough measures against eve-teasers, the city administration has invoked stringent Gangsters Act against them, the imprisonment under which is for a longer period than usual.

Until now ordinary laws were invoked against such accused and they could easily come out of jail to commit such crimes again, but not anymore, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Kanpur Range) Brajbhushan said.

He said plainclothes policemen will be deputed near schools and other important places and the in-charge of police posts will be responsible for checking such crimes in their area.

Instructions have also been issued to put complaint boxes outside schools.
