Kolkata, May 7 A day after Vishwanath Das, principal of Children’s Academy in Garia, committed suicide following allegations of molesting a Class IV girl student, his son lodged a complaint with the police accusing the girl’s parents of provoking his father into taking the extreme step.

In the complaint, Samir Das said the pressure mounted by the family had provoked his father to commit suicide. South 24 Parganas ASP D P Singh said: “Several questions have been raised in the complaint. We are looking into the matter.”

On Tuesday morning, a huge mob had gathered outside the school building at 21, Boral Main Road.

The girl’s mother Chaya Das alleged that she had caught the principal red-handed molesting her daughter in his office on Monday. The alleged victim’s parents also said that Vishwanath Das had come to meet them in a bid to hush up the matter.
