Chandigarh, March 7 Garib Rath, the first connecting direct train from Chandigarh to Jaipur, will kick off from the city on April 4. The fare for Second Class is Rs 253 (almost same as taking an ordinary bus to Jaipur) and for the Third AC it’s Rs 683. However, the train will take 12.5 hours to complete the journey as compared to around 14 hours taken by the bus.

The Chandigarh railway station has already started receiving enquiries for reservation. Though officials have not received any formal intimation regarding the train details, they said the 14-bogie Garib Rath will have three AC and Second Class compartments.

The train will run thrice a week on Monday, Friday and Saturday.

It is scheduled to leave Jaipur station on April 6 at 7.20 pm and reach Chandigarh at 7.30 pm on April 7.

Station Superintendent R K Dutta said: “Though we have not made any bookings yet but many enquiries have come in. The details will become clear in a couple of days. The train is bound of attract a huge number of passengers.”
