Gay sex shouldn’t be legalised at any cost: Lalu

Patna RJD chief Lalu Prasad denounced Delhi High Court's ruling decriminalising gay sex and felt the Centre should appeal against the judgement in the Supreme Court.

"Gay sex should not be legalised at any cost and the Centre should appeal against the verdict in the Supreme Court. I am dead against legalisation of gay sex and will strongly raise the issue in Parliament. Section 377 of the IPC should not be amended," Prasad said.

Asked whether homosexuality is still a crime, he said: "Yes, it is a crime... Such obscene acts should not be allowed in our country. The society is adversely affected."

"Such things which affect the society should not be permitted at all... Government has a greater responsibility towards the society," Prasad said.

"I don't want to talk about such rubbish things. These are obscene things which our country and culture do not permit," he said.

The Delhi High Court had on Thursday legalised gay sex among consenting adults holding that the law making it a criminal offence violated fundamental rights.

Absolute rubbish. Legalising gay sex. Sex is a sacred tool for procreation. It is a sick thought to think of how gays may be having sex. These gay people should be hospitalised and have their hormones corrected. There is no place for gay sex in our Indian culture. India where are you going

Homos by John on 05 Jul 2009

It is pathetic to read the comments of Laloo as well as some of his supporters here. None of them are educated enough to understand what is homosexuality and how people become homosexuals. Some of them call it a cult while others think they are sick. My friends they are neither sick nor a part of a cult. Their sexual orientation is not curable. They are also not unnatural as the nature itself has created them. The homosexual activity existed for thousands of years in India, Greece, Arabia, China, etc. People like Socrates lived with young gays. As long as homosexuals are not trying to sodomize you, why should you worry about all these?

Gay Mentals by Rajesh on 05 Jul 2009

Gay is unnatural sex who are either tempted by seeing blue films or over leaned with sex life. They are immoral people or sexy sick people.Sooner or later they will go mad and will have no life or interest in their life.If legalised, they will act more shamelessly in public places without any shame as they are very very shameless people and will tempt others to do the same. They are just like mad people licking dirt or rubbish from filthy dust bins on the road.We have to feel pity on these rascals who have no moral value in their life. They do not care for the happiness we get after death. In case they get rebirth, they will be like worms crawling here

Please have some shame and don't let the GAY disease spread !!! by Speaking As An Indian on 05 Jul 2009

Guys whats wrong with you, what freedom are you talking about, would you like your father to be gay? or your mother to be lesbian? how would you feel when you come to know that you daughter has become lesbian and she is using the law of govt. india to practice her so called freedom, there are sick people everywhere and governing body should control their behavior, if govt. itself support the lewdness and shamelessnes then who would ensure clean and good social environment??There will be more and more straight people who would think of exploring gayism and thus lose their selfrespect and corrput the society.I really am ashamed of India and its govt.

Gays are not immoral by Kabirdaas on 05 Jul 2009

Religious views are made the basis to call a human behavior moral or immoral. However quite often such views have lost the original spirit of their own tenets which give birth to misplaced traditions and distorted common sense. Casteism, colonialism, materialism, religious intolerance and human prejudices are each an expression of such deviations. As our human challenges grow, we are looking to reform our tenets and beliefs from within. Gay sexuality is not too common anywhere yet has existed as long as humans have. Though found in a minority, like any sexuality, It is by birth and develops over time (acquired or fashionable gay behavior cannot be called gay in a true sense). Society need not fear them. Excessive sexual deviance of any kind can be a social concern but the indiduals should be encouraged to take them up themselves, not coerced through legal or social means. Gay issue is about diversity and the call to coexist with differences. Morality that is imposed is immoral.

gay sex should not be legalised at any cost --Lalu Prasad Yadav by M Krishnamachary on 05 Jul 2009

Mr. Laloo Prasad Yadav is right that he does not like matters of sexual freedom. He is not affected, that is why.He is also right in substituting himself with his wife as chief minister. Patently unethical proposition. Also right in continuing as a public figure, though a prime suspect in the Bihar Fodder Scam. Mr.Lalu Prasad would rather ignore the truth of the existence lesbian and gay people among us. Punish them for being born that way. Most people see he is deviant as a politician. Should he not pay for being so, booed out of Parliament.

Gay Flu with Madness by William Dsouza on 05 Jul 2009

We fully support Lalu Yadav that there should not any chance to legalise gay culture.Foreigners have no culture or religion. They don't have fear of God.We respect Indian culture and religion.Gay is shameless and madness overwhelmed by sexual desire by fools. Our Indian Govt. should be mature enough to choose what is right and what is wrong

Why organise melas? by Indiano on 05 Jul 2009

Let the gays do what they want in their privacy. Why do they have to take out processions and create melas. The fuss they make indicates they are not fighting for their genuine rights, but that it is a sinister foreign design to recrute innocent youths to pollute our society.

Islam or any sect never teaches and preaches for short term! by Murtuza Moosavi on 05 Jul 2009

This is rubbish if we are in 21 st Century what is the greatness. Isnpite of bcoming human being we are becoming Animal. What is the greatness in gay culture. It is shame on our part. Have we ever think before such loose talk what is the advantage and disadvantage. Why opposite sex is created what is the advantage no we dont have time to think bcoz we are inhuman and we are staying in 21st century with world community. That's why we are inviting Ad's, etc.. Jain Hind...

First of all, it is none of your business, Laloos! by B S Kumar on 05 Jul 2009

Who asked Laloo for his opinion on this matter? This is a decision of intelligence, much delayed for whatever reason. The hardest part to understand for most Indians is that this is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS! If you were gay, you'd be fighting for your rights. If you are not, how does this decision by the Supreme Court affect you in any way? Just because you are not comfortable with the idea of being gay or seeing gay people in the open, you cannot make it illegal for them to be that way. It is very much their natural orientation, and it is not a choice.

Joining Laloo are a lot of Indian fools. by B S Kumar on 05 Jul 2009

It appears as though many Indians still do not understand that being gay is as natural as being heterosexual. The Supreme Court has amply highlighted this fact through its stance on the matter. If being gay should be illegal in some way, then so should being handicapped. It is high time the government took one step further and launched an educational campaign that being homosexual and bisexual are perfectly natural and nobody needs to feel threatened by another person's sexuality.More than anything, a lot of people seem to assume that somehow there is a MORAL component to this! If it is indeed a moral issue, then, unless you are affected by it in some way, you should have nothing to complain about it.Just because you don't like it doesn't make it immoral. Indians should learn to mind their own business.

Kudos Lalu by Abhinav on 05 Jul 2009

If gays are having a fundamental right to express their sexuality then why should the law jail people who like to have sex with willing under-age girls? It should be the fundamental right of people who like under-age girls to express their sexuality, after all who is the law to decide whether 18 should be the age of consent? If we keep going this irrational way then the day is not far when Indian society would go down the hedonistic path taken by urban America and Europe. We should not blindly ape the west and should live by our own cultural values. Government should also think about the dangerous consequences this decision of Delhi HC could have for the lives and well-being of gays. Does anyone seriously beleive that Indadian society would accept gays openely, barring one or two mega-cities, I really doubt it. This could give rise to enhanced danger to gays who were under the closet till now. Media does not care about the social havoc in its thoughtless actions could create.

concent to live together by richard on 05 Jul 2009

If it is not allowed in India, why it is practiced here? If it is practiced here, who is getting affected by it? If so, have they lodged any complaints against the offender? If no complaint is lodged where is the criminal activity?

what a loser! by Vic on 05 Jul 2009

What a loser Lalu Prasad is. Spreading bigotry in that fashion in the 21st century. This is a shame.Mr. Lalu Prasad should take the time to read the High Court Judgment. It gives all the answers, it's a masterpiece. Question is- is he even intelligent even to comprehend the text in the judgment?

Lalu - A substandard joker by vinayak on 05 Jul 2009

Ardha-nari nateshwar, an avatar of Vishnu shows that our culture does not resent what Laloo resents. There were enuches in harems in Istambul where Khilaphat ruled for over 500 years.

Indian by Samir on 05 Jul 2009

Lalu is rightfully concern about real intentions behind this ruling. There is no doubt that all humans should have freedom of choices. That choice is valid as long as it do not effect other citizens. Gays and homosexuality is a type of behavior choice that effects and hurts other citizen's religious values. The concern of many Indians is about the determined attempt to marginalize Indian core family values by injecting a new relationship element that is not natural. Over last many centuries, our religion was used a divide and rule tool, and now, they are dividing our families. Family break-up or alteration of traditional family values means weaker civilization and further means, dysfunctional nation. Immorality camouflaged as human-right is a new western tool to influence India; Its a new East India Company and Lalu's of India do have a right to question, and to oppose.

Laaloo and gay by Dr. Kumar, England on 05 Jul 2009

Laaloo Ji, You are from Bihar. I too am from Bihar. Long ago, Bihar decided to live in 19th. century. I wanted to live in 20th and 21st century. So, I left not only Bihar but India in 1970 for Britain. Please live in 21st century. If you don't, we oversease Bihari will teach our children that India and Bihar is desert, like Sahara.

Gay India by Sean Collins on 05 Jul 2009

"I do not want to talk about such rubbish things"Sounds like someone wants to put human rights into the rubbish bin. We all want our rights. They are only rights worthy of us when we ensure that all other have their human rights. Lalu's enjoys freedom of speech but uses that freedom to try to limit the freedom of others who are not hurting him in any way. He is really voicing prejudice.

Lalu Prasad is a disgrace to the sacrifice of all Indian patriots by Swami Vivekananda on 04 Jul 2009

India became a nation due to the selfless service and sacrifice of great leaders, reformers, and visionaries. Now it is in the hands of uneducated crooks and villians such as Lalu Prasad Yadav and Mayawati who should be jailed for the money they have stolen from the public coffers that could have been directed to the betterment of the citizenry. Now these low and base hypocrites are interpreting morality for the nation. How about they start with sanctifying their own actions?

Retired by Barinder Ahluwalia on 04 Jul 2009

Article 377 should also legalise smoking, prohibited drug use etc. Guys and lesbiens are sick people and need de-addition treatment. Kudos to Lallu, Ramdev, Muslim and sikh religious bodies coming openly against the Delhi HC judgement, which may be interpreting legal aspect of Clause 21 of the Article III Fundamental Rights of the Constitution of India but MORALLY they are all wrong. British gave us the Administrative set up of the country and Parliamentary system of government too. Why not abandon everything Govt. Parliament, Education, Juditiary branches of the government given by them to us.Barinder

Homosexuality no place in Indian culture by A.Dias on 04 Jul 2009

Let us not politicalize the issue. It is not only shame but a disgrace to legalize the gay culture. They are not criminals but their activities cannot be tolerated in Indian society as those are against the nature. No religion will accept such indecent activities of gays. Do we want our children and future Indian population to become gays?
