The delegatio included Gerd Hartwig, Group Executive Director, Human Resources, P K Malik, President and Managing Director and Prashant Sharma, Head HR from Claas India. PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Manjit Singh Kang welcomed the delegation. He urged them to develop collaborative programmes for the students and faculty in the upcoming areas of research and development, and technology generation.
Dr P K Gupta, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering, spoke on the programmes in the various departments of the college. He presented the profiles of farm engineers relevant to today’s job markets.
Claas India is the regular visitor to the college for on-the-spot recruitment of graduating agricultural engineers every year. The company has selected nine agricultural engineers during the last three years.
Dr S S Ahuja, Head, Department of Farm Power and Machinery, took the delegation around the Research Hall. He told them about the farm equipment developed by the university.
Dr P P S Lubana and Vishal Bector spoke about the placement of agricultural engineers in the recent years through campus interviews. They added that the PAU graduates are in great demand in the corporate sector. The visitors appreciated the key role that PAU has played in promoting Indian agriculture. They expressed their desire to take this association further for mutual benefits in the area of research, teaching and extension.
