The menu offers a fine assortment of grills, including sliced sole fish with avocado salsa (Rs 429), sarson mahi tukra (Rs 429), and thyme-flavoured peppers with cottage cheese (Rs 329). A wooden trolley holding small pans and a variety of dips will be wheeled to your table and the chef will simmer the meats in a wok right before you. You can ask the chef to spike the dish with any of the sauces on offer or even don the cap and cook your own dinner. The ambience is relaxed and if you are not keen on cooking, you can pick up a
coffee-table glossy from the book rack. A wine rack will soon be installed at the diner where guests will able to reserve their half-empty wine bottles till their next visit.
Must-try
We begin with pan-grilled chicken (Rs 429). The juicy chunks of chicken were sautéed with roasted garlic and glossed with balsamic reduction right before us. The good part about the trolley being rolled in is that your food reaches you steaming hot and the finishing is done to your taste. The disappointing part, however, is the arrival of a regular stove instead of a charcoal-laden grill. Next was basil paneer tikka (Rs 329), which was scrumptious with cubes of cottage cheese smudged with a basil paste that lent a summery flavour to the dices. If you want a traditional entrée, you can try paneer tikka masala (Rs 429) that accompanies a generous bowl of dal makhni and buttery chapattis, or Kashmiri roganjosh with Peshawari roti (Rs 429). If you want something a tad different, go for smoky flavours of grilled prawns with glazed pineapple (Rs 829).
For desserts, round off your meal with rasmalai chocolate soufflé (Rs 229) that brings in two half moons of sludgy dark chocolate soufflé holding a slice of rasmalai. You can also try pan cheese delight (Rs 229) that offers a triangle of cheesecake topped with a betel-leaf-flavoured dressing.
Give a miss
Unless you are extremely fond of steaks, the Brazilian steak with red wine reduction (Rs 1,229) can be avoided. While the sauce is excellent, the steak was chewy and hadn’t absorbed the flavours.
