Ghaziabad, March 15 A constable of the press cell of the Ghaziabad police was kidnapped by four men and was badly beaten up.

Amit was on his way to the press cell, housed at the residence of Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Ratan, around 4 am when he was attacked and dragged into a car by four men. The constable has, however, not registered a case.

“I told them I was a domestic help at a house in the area so they beat me up. I think they would have killed me had they known I am a policeman,” Amit said.

He was taken to a location near Raeespur village in Ghaziabad and dropped off after his belongings were taken from him and he had been badly injured. Amit has been admitted to the Yashodha hospital in Ghaziabad and the police are now on the lookout for the perpetrators. Amit stays at the Police Lines and was on his way to office when the car, which was speeding, tried to run him over, the police said. SSP Deepak Ratan, however, said, “It looks like a case of family dispute led to the incident.”
