New Delhi, February 8: BJP on Friday asked the government to give a ‘strong’ reply to China for taking objection to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s assertion that Arunachal Pradesh belongs to India.

The main Opposition party reacted strongly to Beijing’s protest, saying “Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of the country (and) India should give a proper, effective and strong reply to the Chinese objection”.

Party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad was reacting to Chinese government lodging a protest with India over the Prime Minister’s statement that Arunachal was “our land of rising sun” during his maiden visit to the state last month.

China, which has been laying claim over Arunachal Pradesh, has conveyed to India that it was not proper to make such comments at a time when the two countries were engaged in talks over the boundary question.

BJP had earlier criticised the Prime Minister for not visiting border town of Tawang during his trip to Arunachal Pradesh, saying it did not give the right signal and was a matter of serious concern.

“We had made the point that the Prime Minister should have visited Tawang during his trip,” Prasad said.

China's Comments on Indian Territoy by Nick J on 09 Feb 2008

One wonders on what ground this sick Chinese government lays cliams on Arunachal Pradesh, tmorrow they may object to PM going to Shimla for that matter. Have heard on loacl FM talk shows that China will soon have millions of unmarried young men due one child policy and they need to get them busy and invloved in some war before they creat problem for their own state. Start a war and get them busy and killed and in the bargain get some land too!!China is country that India,US, Japan etc have to really worry about, a monster has been created by US consumers and the world will have to be prepared to deal with them soon, if they can.

Arunachal Pradesh! by Parmeshwar Coomar on 09 Feb 2008

I am curious to see how the Indian Army that is used to fighting weaker countries like Pakistan, Ceylon and Nepal will stand up to China. All indications point to overwhelming Chinese superiority in all areas. Coupled with corruption that prevented the development of border areas India does not stand a chance to defend Arunachal Pradesh in case of full blown Chinese assault. Maybe cause some pinpricks that is all. Congress and BJP are alike. Both corrupt both spineless....

Congress is a joke by Hemant on 09 Feb 2008

Manmohan Singh is a hen-pecked husband and carrying on in the same vein... I would like to call him a "pussy". He is not a man. If he was a man, his blood would boil at this kind of stuff and he would want to rectify the situation. Atal is a man. He had the balls to say that he was going to engage in 'aar paar ki ladaae' with Pakistan over Kargil. India needs BJP. Congress is a pushover and a spineless party. If they can't choose an Indian from among a billion Indians to lead their party, what good are they?
