Kolkata The chill between the Trinamool Congress and the Congress in West Bengal continued to deepen with TMC secretary general Partha Chatterjee slamming the Congress for opposing Mamata Banerjee and daring it to go to the polls alone.

“It is not a dignified thing to be a part of the cabinet of the present government and at the same time criticize it. One should not remain in the post (then),” said Chatterjee, hitting at Manas Bhuniya, the former WBPCC president and now a cabinet minister in the Mamata government. “Please go to polls without the picture of Mamata Banerjee adorning your campaign. Your deposit will be forfeited,” said Chatterjee.

Another TMC minister Firad Hakim launched a similar attack and ridiculed Congress MLAs, saying that the West Bengal government was not dependent on Congress support as it had two-thirds majority. “In Delhi, the Congress government will have to depend on us,” he said.

Underlining the bitterness, the TMC announced that its youth wing would hold a rally in Kolkata on January 9 to counter the campaign by the Congress.

Said Chatterjee: “It is of serious concern to us, the way the CPM and the Congress are speaking in the same language and campaigning against the Mamata Banerjee government. She is the face of the people in the state and any attempt to malign it will meet with a disastrous end.” Asked about an impending split, he said: “We will cross the bridge when we come to it.”

THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE BEFORE THE CONGRESS by RAKESH KAPUR on 06 Jan 2012

THE BOWING OF CONGRESS AND THE GOVERNMENT BEFORE MAMTA ON MANY ISSUES INCLUDING PETROL PRICE HIKE AND THEN IT NOT SUPPORTING THE LOK PAL BILL HAS SHOWN TO MAMTA THAT HOW DEARLY IT NEEDS HER SUPPORT. THIS IS ALL THE EXPLIOTATION OF THAT.

Centre's Fiasco - State's Debacle by Sainath Hegde on 06 Jan 2012

%u201CTruth always reflects the bitter part in you%u201D. Today when Mamata Banerjee raised her voice against Lokpal or even Indira Bhavan, Congress feels this is nothing but an emotional attyachar. But what happened to the same congress when they name each and every flyover, highways and even airport to their leaders. Why it should only be the Congress%u2019s rule? Why don%u2019t we have any street or even highways named after Atal Bihari Vajpayee or either IK Gujaral? Congress thinks they can rule dictating, but they should not forget what happened in the Middle Eastern part of the world and Africa? Leaders were thrown out and ruled out by their own masses. Hope they grow up and talk some thing that is sensible and mature.

A Fitting reply to Congress from TMC by arun kumar on 06 Jan 2012

Congress party has not been able to get even the PM Mr. Manmohan Singh elected to the Lok Sabha in 10 years and the success it has tested in WB is out of the hard work of Didi. CPM party has always been the B team of Congress party and still the party is in conspiring with CPM against Didi.

That is what Advani , Karunanidhi, Communists all said by rajkumar on 06 Jan 2012

Every party once elected to power shows their arrogance and total indifference to the people. They feel the India belongs to them and people are their slaves. The more people vote , they get treated very badly. It is time TMC wakes and start providing a good governance to the state.

Bengal's woes get worse by Anil on 06 Jan 2012

What else but one feels sorry for west Bengal, where a Mad Mamta(MM) has replaced a progressive Buddadeb Bhatacharya. MM is hell bent on making bengal go thru even more excruciating suffering. with 19MP's she wants to take decisons affecting the whole country. She is delusiuonal and will suffer same fate as Lalu Yadav did. Unfortunately by the time Lalu faced reality, Bihar slid down further. Left may be outdated, but are not anti National. MM is purely inexperienced and cannot see the larger picture.

35yrs was not enough for u to wake up.......& your words reflects you as a person who is inspired by so called left guys like Biman Basu, Anil etc. who uses unparliamentary words by nature. Don't be a blind left supporter. Accept the failure of lefts in WB. Now a days ...lefts become astrologer to predict what will happen in future by TMC govt. Instead of doing that analyze & learn from failure in past.

THE SAME PRINCIPLE IS APPLICAME TO TMC TOO by BIMAL CHANDRA JHA on 06 Jan 2012

Sir, I agree with Partha Chatterjee, TMC Secretary General that " it is not a dignified thing to be a part of the cabinet of the present government at the same time criticize it" TMC minister in the union cabinet often criticizes the stand taken by the government. Recently it(TMC) supported Lokpal bill in Lok Sabha, but opposed it in Rajya Sabha. If the same principle is applied to TMC, the ministers belonging to this party should have resigned from the cabinet. Unfortunately, the duplicity in character dominates us. Yours faithfully; BIMAL CHANDRA JHA Samanpura Road, Patna

Cogress has become arrogant. `Gang of four' Kapil, Abhishek Singhavi, Chidambaram & company think they have all the wisdom and others are trash. Unfortunately they control the puppet.
