Mumbai, January 16: Actor and MP Govinda on Wednesday slapped a visitor on the sets of the shooting of his film Money Hai to Honey Hai accusing him of misbehaving with artistes including women.

Govinda said he had been observing for quite some time that the visitor--a man--had been "misbehaving" with all the artists and kicking the legs of the chair on which the actor was sitting.

When Govinda asked the visitor if he had come to the sets with some artists or the media, he replied he was an "outsider who has come just like that".

Asked if his action was out of "frustration" as an actor or Member of Parliament, he said there was no question of frustration as any person would hit back in self-defence when somebody tried to get physical to him or her.

The MP has been under fire for not visiting his Lok Sabha constituency for a long time and people living in suburban Malad, which comes under his constituency, had held a demonstration on Tuesday because he was not reachable while they were in distress.

One person even declared a reward of Rupees one crore to anyone who could locate the "elusive" MP.

Govinda dismissed it as a "stunt" common in politics.

The actor's secretary Shashi Sinha said that Govinda "was provoked by constant disturbance created by the visitor. The man was seated behind Govinda and would continuously hit the chair with his toes whenever the actor would sit down to take a break from the song sequence he was shooting".

Govinda's frustration by ashok ghosh on 18 Jan 2008

Being an MP and senior actor Govinda should not take law in his hand,as if he is comming from from very negative background, shame on him,its clear frustration on his face, he is not man ,coward ilmannered person.

Govinda slaps a man on film shoot by Gauri on 17 Jan 2008

Govinda has taken the right action. As Gandhiji said, a person who tolerates injustice is equally responsible as the person who propagates it. So I am glad that Govinda did not tolerate the wrong behaviour by this visitor and rather took an action. This visitors behaviour was wrong and somebody needed to let him know that. We have to remember, what goes around comes back. If we show mutual love and respect for others then it will start a positive cycle and get propagated. However surly behaviour by the visitor has just created feelings of anger and disdain. As it turns out, there are people who themselves have no objective or mission in life, like this visitor.....Could he have made a better use of his time, doing something positive and constructivea and set an example for others to follow?

Uncivilsed MP been elected {Govinda by ashok on 18 Jan 2008

Vow m/s gauri,by slapping an unknown person i mean taking law in hand ,is it true gandhigiri?absoultely abusing the gandhi philosophy and tarnishing congress as well, weldon m/s Gauri hats off to you by siding this uncivilised people like Govinda showing his true colour of his breeds.

Govinda's ire by Subbu on 17 Jan 2008

Those who support Govinda have not had the other side of the story, i.e. the version of the person who received the slap. Besides, who is this Govinda to take law into his own hands? If he had any grievance of misconduct or misbehaviour of the person, Govinda should have appropriately lodged a police complaint with witnesses. Hell with Govinda for this unworthy action!

Govinda slaps a man by ramesh kumar on 17 Jan 2008

What is Govinda now? An MP or actor? He is a waste in either case! What service he did to the nation as an MP, while ejoying Himalayan benefits, at the cost of peoples' money? He is a national waste therefore.

Reply by Raju Nair on 21 Jan 2008

yes, i agreed with Mr.Ramesh's comment. since the MP what he did is not acceptable like a big fan of Govinda. If he is facing any harrasment from visitor /anybody he should intimate to director / producer of the film for necessation action. It is not good that he did. After watching this in TV news I stopped watching his all movies. Erlier I was a big fan of Govinda......but after this incident I totally stopped watching his movie

Lunatic Govinda by ashok ghosh on 18 Jan 2008

GOVINDA'S BEHAVIOUR OF SLAPPING by P.C.LUTHRA on 17 Jan 2008

GOVINDA'S BEHAVIOUR AS MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT OF SLAPPING A PERSON. HON'BLE MR SPEAKER MR SOM NATH CHATTERJEE IS REQUESTED TO KINDLY LOOK INTO THE INCIDENT. IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ANMP. HIS ATTENDANCE IN PARLIAMENT UPTODATE MAY KINDLY BE PUT ON NET.ARTISTS FROM FILMINDUSTRY NEED NOT BE TAKEN AS CANDIDATESIN ELECTIONS AS THEY HARDLY HAVE TIME TO NURTURE CONSTITUENCY

Somanath has excuses for his actions by Vials on 17 Jan 2008

Vinu your pain is noted but communist Speaker who once says tha Parlaiment is supreme when COURT intervene and then turns back and says Govt is supreme when it come parlaiment is aske to vote in the case of Nuclear deal will never punish an MP form ruling political party. Only COURTS can take action. His action was outside the Parlaiment and COUTRS are bound by constitution to take proper action.

Well done but with Caution !!! by Dara Sooden on 17 Jan 2008

Arrogance glorified by Vilas on 17 Jan 2008

No way any one has right to take law in their hands. Recently TV staions have shown mob taking matter in their hand. We dont know if this man was teasing woman around Mr. Govinda. And if he was, Mr Govinda as an MP should be more than oboliged to have police handle the matter. I am sure no police would have refused tot ake action if "order' had come from an MP and actor. It was shear arrogance on Mr. Govinda's part and he should be held responsible for that. it was not a common man getting emotional over some eve teasing. It is like that communist MP asking Kingfisher employees to change the law for VIP.s Shame on Indians who would support such arrogance.

Arrogance in action. by Vilas on 17 Jan 2008

This is typical arrogance at larg by politicans and so called celebraties. why there is no police action? Mr. Govinda should,be arrested immediately as he has no right to take law in his hands. The recent molestation cases are nothing but extention of arrogance shown by the politicians. Are politicans above law? Can Supreme court take direct action and aks for the arrest of the actor who is known as Mr. Govinda? If not, will Civil Liberties Union file PIL? The proof is with all TV stations.
