New Delhi About four lakh officers of central public sector enterprises will benefit from a government decision giving them a further increase in salary and allowances, over and above the hikes announced last year.

The decision to improve the salary structure of officers at board level and below, along with supervisory staff, was taken at the Cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The improved pay packages will also include increase in house rent allowance and retirement benefits.

The decisions are based on the recommendations of the committee of ministers headed by Home Minister P Chidambaram, which went into the revised salary and allowances notified earlier in November last year by the government.

PSU officers, particularly in the oil sector, forced the government to revisit their revised pay scales when they went on strike in January this year.

Briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Chidambaram said the revision in the pay structure would vary from company to company.

Cheating With Employees joining after 01.01.2007 by RASHMI RANAJN SAHOO on 16 Apr 2009

This is utter non sense that the DPE has not given Fitment benefit for the executives and non unionised supervisors who have joined after 1st Jan 2007.This is not at all justified. It will take around 6 years to catch up the salary of those,Who have have joine on or before 31.12.2006.New Joinees should not accept this Step motherly treatment. And the revision should cater to all section of employees.

fitment benefit by rohan on 03 Aug 2009

A PERSON LEFT WITH 20 YRS CANT KNOW DEMAND OF PERSON OF 20YRS OF AGE by pavas on 02 May 2009

it is totaly wrong decision of pay revision committee that they have not given fitment benifit for those executives and non unionized supervisors .while the private comanies are offering out of scope to woo new entrants to their organization.in my view the pay revision committee should comprise young blood so that they can feel the needs of the young mass.otherwise in job advertisement PSUs should not specify SALARY IS DUE REVISION.

psu pay hike - wrong headlines by abalkiah on 01 Apr 2009

For your kind information, this is not "further" pay hike. Justice Rao committee's recommendations were drastically diluted by a handful of bureacrats in the name of Committee of Secretaries at the behest of this useless govt. What this so called group of ministers have recommended is not even at par with the Justice Rao committee recommendations. Therefore, this is not another or further pay hike as the media and the newspapers have hiped on the instructions of the govt.

We the employees are fooled. by Yumnam Premabarta on 01 Apr 2009

Pay hike! Not at all satisfied. We are all employee minded not emloyer. We the employees should enjoy 95% of the net proffit every month .We the employees, are left blank regarding the net proffit of our company.Though I am working for my employer after hard reading, the employer is enough to enjoy 5% of my hard earnred money. My pay and allowances should be flotting from month to month, depending on the net proffit of my working. Employer is fooling the emploees by giving a lump sum amount without disclosing the net proffit of the company. We are the tax payers, hard workers, well qualified. We must enjoy more than the employers. Who are the employers ? How much are they enjoying in a month ? it is confusing in India,

Pay hike for PSU officers by Aravind on 31 Mar 2009

It is no surprise as MMTC and STC are donating to Congress Party only. Also there could be donations from certain organizations affeliated to Congress Party. Good vote bank politics and more serous crime, slow poison to the democrfacy's death. Even the US and Europe where economies are down, they are cutting expenses; where are we heading? Even though it could be due, declaring it now definitely amounts to vote bank politics.

Pay hike in PSUs by Neeraj Kumar on 30 Mar 2009

Many of us are not aware that revision of pay and perks in goverment takes place only after fix tenure. This time it is after ten years and was due since last two years. When industry was basking in glory and "India was shining" , private sector emplyees were having their pocket full of indecent pays and perks. But these " deshdrohis" never went to street for pay hike as it was not due as per government norms. Now when it was overdue and prices were trying to stablized in the sky they were only asking for their dues which government after a detailed analysis, perhaps, thought to be genuine. It is high time that those who suffered and put themselves at stake should be reinstated and an atmosphere condisive for more focussed work should be brought back.

Dear sir,In case you feel PSU officers are actually rolling in money, why dont you join a PSU and find out the inside story, instead of wasting your time feeling jealous of others rightly dues ?

Why at this juncture? by romesh.sharma on 30 Mar 2009

Under the prevailing circumstances of detriorating world economy every country is trying to cut or block raising salaries in India this is being done only aiming at coming elections. The world is against any extra expenditure and they are doing best not to pay bonuses and dividends etc to stabilize and check foreseen dangers. Its the same cunning trick of propagating inflation to below zero. Was this all to come just before elections? All these five years they remained indolent and inert and now they want to do good only to accomplish selfish motives.Only a fool will fall into their trap.Manipulations and treachery is the only thing Cong and UPA politicians know.

the cheats by singh on 30 Mar 2009

Very true. They had all the time on earth to implement the pay revision which was due from January 2007. PSU officers were working without pay hike for the last 10 years, many without even annual increments. Despite the very good performance by the most of the PSUs (recently they have been out performing private sector), this government and babus destroyed the aspirations of hard working, humble, dedicated, responsible and simple PSU officers who were finding very hard to meet both the ends. Vote these cheats out.
