Govt committee clears proposals for new hospital, DTC depots

New Delhi, January 23 The Expenditure Finance Committee of the Delhi government has cleared two proposals amounting to Rs 117 crore, related to the departments of Health & Family Welfare and Transport. The proposals were cleared on Wednesday in an Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) meeting, presided over by Delhi Finance Minister, Dr A K Walia.

The minister announced today that a new hospital will be constructed at Kokiwala Bagh, near Ashok Vihar, at an estimated cost of Rs 92.64 crore within 30 months. When it becomes functional, the hospital will provide healthcare facilities to poor and needy persons living in slums and under-developed localities around Ashok Vihar and GT Road. At present, the nearest hospital for the residents of these localities is Hindu Rao Hospital. The new hospital would provide better healthcare facilities at a reasonable distance, Walia said.

Walia also said that three new DTC depots will be constructed in Delhi Dehat at an estimated cost of Rs 24.22 crore. The depot at Narela will be constructed at a cost of Rs7.56 crore on an area of 20,241 sq m. The Kanjhawala-I depot will be constructed at a cost of Rs 8.94 crore over an area of 24,826 sq m, whereas the Kanjhawala-II depot will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 7.72 crore over an area of 20,016 sq m.
