Jaspal Singh said that a number of short-term and job-oriented courses must be introduced to ensure better job opportunities for the students. He also proposed the creation of advisory committees to look into the matter. Dr Singh said promotion of rural education was another serious concern, which needs to be addressed by the varsity.
The V-C said, “I will be firm and flexible in dealing with various issues concerning the overall growth and development of the varsity.”
Jaspal Singh added that he will ensure that merit is not ignored and rules are not violated.
He said that the visits by the UGC and NAAC teams to assess the quantum and quality of achievements of the University will be a test for the varsity. He was confident that the university would retain the five-star status granted by the NAAC.
Sucha Singh Gill, Dean, Academic Affairs, said that overall development has helped Punjabi University to emerge as the largest University in the state.
