Govt prepares 24,316-cr power plan

Chandigarh, March 16 The Haryana government has prepared a power sector investment plan of Rs 24,316.82 crore for 11th Five Year Plan. Out of this, Rs 10042.01 crore would be spent on power generation, Rs 7697.72 crore on transmission and Rs 6577.09 crore on strengthening of distribution system in the state.

This was stated by Haryana Minister for Forest, Environment and Sports, Kiran Choudhry today after inaugurating a 33 KV sub-station at Pataudi village in Bhiwani district. She also laid the foundation stone of 33 KV sub-station at Bhera village in the district. The 33 KV sub-station at Pataudi has been constructed by the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) at a cost of Rs 2 crores by setting up a transformer of 10 MVA capacity.

The 33-KV sub-station, to be constructed at Bhera village, will also be of the same capacity and cost. The Minister revealed that that to strengthen the power transmission and distribution system in the state, a comprehensive plan has been formulated to construct 255 new sub-stations, augment 154 existing ones and construct associated transmission lines at the cost of Rs 4,020 crore. She said that after the present government came into power in Haryana, 70 new sub-stations have been commissioned besides augmenting 180 existing sub-stations and erecting 1,100 km long-transmission lines.

The project cost was Rs 500 crore. Choudhry said that the DHBVN and the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) planned to spend Rs 460 crores to strengthen power transmission and distribution system in Bhiwani district.

Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen O. S. Lohchab, Chairman, Haryana Power Transmission and Distribution Corporation, said an additional plan of Rs 130 crore for further strengthening power transmission and distribution system in the district is under the consideration of the DHBVN and the HVPN under which 220 additional sub-stations are proposed to be set up in Bhiwani district.
