Kolkata, August 05 The West Bengal tourism department will introduce a new incentive scheme to mobilise more investment in tourism sector through public-private partnership.

Managing Director of the West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation T V N Rao told this at a panel discussion on “Identifying West Bengal as a tourist destination” at the Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industries in Kolkata on Tuesday.

“We will give capital subsidy and tax benefits to private players in the tourism and hospitality sector,” Rao said.

The state has signed Memorandum of Understanding with Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Ltd, Sinclairs Group and Emaar MGF Land Ltd to develop resorts at popular tourism places in the state. “We are having talks with two more groups, one of them is based in Kolkata,” Rao added.
