Satyam

New Delhi Corporate affairs minister Prem Chand Gupta said on Monday there appeared to be a "nexus" between the fraud at outsourcer Satyam Computer Services and other firms linked to its promoters.

Gupta said the government had extended the probe by the Serious Fraud Office to two firms in which the family of jailed Satyam founder Ramalinga Raju hold stakes.

"The inspectors investigating the matters have informed about apparent nexus between the events that have taken place in Satyam and the following companies amongst others -- Maytas Properties Ltd and Maytas Infra Ltd," Gupta added.

AP GOVERNMENT DELAYS SATYAM INVESTIGATIONS by Chandrasekhara SMM on 24 Jan 2009

Premchand gupta ignores the suspected nexus between political leaders and RAJU/ SATYAM/ MAYTAS. The central government instituted enquiries by SFIO/ ROC/ SEBI could not interrogate RAJU etc. till todate. It is suspected that lot of evidence is being destroyed by present investigation agencies who are in the front. Why are the central agencies sleeping? Who are the corrupt political parties/ bigwigs/ persons shielded in the whole episode? RAJU HAS BUILT SATYAM IN THE LAST 20 YEARS, IRRESPECTIVE OF THE SUSPECTED MISDEEDS. WHAT ARE THE AP GOVERNMENT AGENCIES RESULTS IN THE last 18 days?IS IT THE RIGHT AGENCY TO LEAD an international economic CRIME INVESTIGATION? THE NEW SATYAM BOARD HAS A DONE A GOOD THING TO initiate RESTATE THE ACCOUNTS BY DELOITTE/ KPMG TO BUILD INTERNATIONAL INVESTOR CONFIDENCE AND DEFINITELY IT IS INSPIRING.IS A CENTRALLY COORDINATED SINGLE AGENCY LED BY SEBI/ ROC/ IT THE ANSWER TO BUILD INTERNATIONAL INVESTOR CONFIDENCE?

The nexus is among Satyam, Maytas and the AP CM: the central govt. should check it.

Looks like Government takes its own time to see even what obvious and is seen, perceived and known by others weeks ago. This hesitancy of Government in musing over the matters vital to country's interests has cost the country dear. The point in case is mere verbosity by Home Minister in case of Mumbai attack without being followed by any visible action. Same is happening in case of Satyam. Maytas are intergal parts of Satyam with Satyam holding stakes in the company and also by blood.Only problem is that Congress may delay action as the fear of CM of Congress ruled State getting implicated, who is already on denial mode on the issue of favouring Maytas with contracts for huge State Projects overestimating its financial and competence to complete these projects. CM is already making frequency visits to Centre to give clarifications. The final product may be very interesting to watch.

I believe none other than Raju himself to be blamed and punished for all this mess, and dwindling money from Satyam to companies owned by his sons or personal or benami accounts. I'm happy that Govt. though started investigating the case late but has taken the issue seriously but they should speed-up the process. And also its pointless to blame any politician or govt till the investigation is complete. It has become fashionable now-a-days to malign/blame ruling govts or its leaders without any thoughts or evidence. People and press simply through wild allegations and its upto the blamed to prove their innocence which is not correct. And opposition parties and leaders use this opportunity to take mileage out of these issues. In current case it was Babu who supported and cultured Satyam, and took claim for its success and now he turnaround and blaming current govt and its leaders. Whatever the contracts Maytas may have got could be due to faith in these companies/Raju as every one thought he is clean, no one estimated the extent to which Mr.Raju could go.
