Govt starts emergency helpline for drought relief

Lucknow With 58 districts of the state declared drought-hit, the state government has decided to start a helpline at the office of the Relief Commissioner in the Department of Revenue with effect from August 3.

The helpline will have seven numbers and it will be operational during office hours. The complaints will be sent to district officers for immediate attention. The department will check the response time.

Apart from the office landline numbers of the Relief Commissioner and Special Secretary, Revenue, the helpline will also have the numbers of sections which deal with the disaster management programme. The department has also created an emergency operation centre where emergencies can be reported. 

Govindan Nair, Principal Secretary (Revenue), said: “We are using seven numbers in all for the purpose of emergency helpline.” The helpline numbers are 9454417413, 0522-2238200, 0522-2238084, 9454413678, 9415906070, 1077 and 9415906071. These numbers will also be advertised on the department’s site www.rahat.up.nic.in.
